Is Sony about to reveal a PC version of Returnal?
A new listing over at SteamDB , the unofficial Steam Database, suggests that the PlayStation 5 exclusive Returnal could soon be coming to PC. Returnal is a AAA roguelite 3rd person shooter from Housemarque, which has already proven to be incredibly popular on PlayStation 5.
Sony has already revealed its plans to expand PlayStation's prescience within the PC gaming market, with recent PlayStation-to-PC releases being God of War, Days Gone, and Horizon Zero Dawn. Later this year, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is coming to PC, any Sony has confirmed that they expect their PC earnings to almost quadruple this year . That means that we should expect to see more Sony games arrive on PC in the near future.
Returnal's alleged PC listing includes several descriptors that describe the 3rd person roguelite, including " Tower of Sisyphus" a DLC for Returnal, and references to Helios, the game's ship, and references to Atropos, the planet that Returnal is based on.
Sony's financial expectations from the PC market have confirmed that several high profile PlayStation games will be coming to PC before March 2023, the end of Sony's current financial year. There is no reason to believe that Returnal won't be one of those games, especially now that the game has been found on Valve's Steam database.
With Returnal being an Unreal Engine 4 game, porting the AAA roguelite to PC shouldn't be a major challenge to Sony. However, many of Sony's existing PlayStation-to-PC ports have had their issues, especially at launch. Let's hope that Returnal's planned PC version has none of these issues.
