ASUS officially reveals its ROG Strix SQ7 SSD Specifications

ASUS details their high-end ROG Strix SQ7 NVMe SSD

ASUS has just listed their new ROG Strix SQ7 SSD on their website, detailing the specifications of their high-end 1TB SSD. The ROG Strix SQ7 is a PCIe 4.0 M.2 SSD that fits within the standard 2280 SD form factor, offering users sequential read speeds of up to 7,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6,000 MB/s.

ASUS' SQ7 name appears to come from the SSD's sequential read speeds, with SQ7 lining up perfectly with the drive's stated sequential read speeds. It is likely that future ASUS NVMe SSDs will utilise with SQ name, with future PCIe 5.0 SSDs likely offering makes like the SQ13, or SQ14 when sequential read speeds of 13,000 MB/s or 14,000 MB/s can be delivered.

The ROGT Strix SQ7 is a M.2 NVMe SSD that is based on Phison's E18 SSD controller, which is already uses in high-end SSDs from companies like Corsair, Sabrent, Kingston, MSI, and Gigabyte. Based on the image below, ASUS appears to be using Micron's 176-layer 3D TLC NAND with their ROG Strix SQ7 SSD, and are pairing the drive with a DDR4 memory buffer.

Being a PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 SSD with that offers sequential read speeds of 7,000 MB/s the ROG Strix SQ7 is an SSD that is compatible with a large variety of modern devices, from desktop PCs to laptops and even Sony's PlayStation 5 console.

Sadly, ASUS has not commented on the retail availability and pricing of their new ROG Strix SQ7 SSD, or revealed versions of the drive that offer capacity options of over 1TB.
