We've finally gotten our first look at Starfield
At today's Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, gamers have finally gotten their first look at Starfield, Bethesda Game Studio's next AAA RPG. Starfield was first revealed back in 2022, and today, in 2022, we have gotten our first look at gameplay, 15 full minutes of it.
Starfield is launching in 2023 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Cloud, and PC, with the PC version arriving though Xbox Game Pass/PC Game Pass, the Microsoft Store, and Steam. The game will features 100 star systems, and over 1,000 planets. All of these planets will be fully explorable, and players can land their ships anywhere on their surface.
In the trailer below, a player lands on a new planet, observes some alien lifeforms, mines some resources, and finds a pirate-controlled facility. After that, there's some fighting, jet-packing, and grenade-throwing, showcase's Starfield's combat system. While the guns have a little less oomph or recoil than I'd like, the jetpack does look like a lot of fun.
Bethesda has confirmed that Starfield players will be able to design, built, crew, and fly their own spacecraft, and that the game will also include weapons crafting. With over 1,000 explorable planets, Starfield is certainly Bethesda's largest RPG to date, so good luck trying to numerically comparing the game's map with Skyrim.
In Starfield, your spaceship will be your primary means of transport, and ship-to-ship combat will be included in the game. Currently, Starfield lacks official PC system requirements, which makes sense given the game's 2023 release date.
