Red Dead Redemption 2 has been updated with new online content and support for FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 on PC

Red Dead Redemption 2 may not be the newest game on the block, but it is still one of the best looking open world games available. Today, Red Dead Redemption 2 has recieved Title Update 1.31, which adds support for new Red Dead Online content and adds support for AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 technology on PC.

Red Dead Redemption 2 already supported temporal upscaling though Nvidia's DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) technology, but DLSS is only supported by Nvidia's RTX series graphics cards, limiting the upscaler to a minority of PC gamers. With AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 support, Red Dead Redemption 2 can offer gamers a high quality temporal upscaling solution that is compatible with all modern GPUs, which is great news for gamers using AMD GPUs and older Nvidia graphics hardware (GTX 1080 Ti owners rejoice).

Two months ago, modders added FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 to Red Dead Redemption 2 by hijacking Nvidia's DLSS file structure. Now, Rockstar has added support for this much requested feature, giving gamers the performance benefits of high performance upscaling.

Why does upscaling matter?

To increase the performance and graphical fidelity of future games, gamers either need more powerful hardware or developers need to utilise gaming hardware in a more efficient way. Temporal Upscaling solutions like DLSS and FSR 2.0 are solutions that take the latter approach, upscaling lower resolution frames to higher resolutions to give gamers a performance boost in supported titles. For developers, these technologies can effectively lower the hardware requirements of modern games, and for gamers, these technologies allow them to push their hardware further and prolong the lifespan of their existing graphics card.

With Title Update 1.3.1, Red Dead Redemption 2 has also recieved an upgraded Temporal Anti-Aliasing solution and support for Nvidia Reflex when gamepads are used. Several bug fixes have also been applied to the game's PC version. More details about Title Update 1.3.1 can be found here .
