Intel has a 6 GHz processor on the horizon

At the company's Tech Tour event in Israel, Intel has revealed their they have plans to release a Raptor Lake processor that can deliver 6 GHz clock speeds. Intel has claimed that they have created the world's "1st 6GHz" processor, and have also revealed that overclockers have already pushed Raptor Lake to 8GHz.

Intel has also revealed that their Raptor Lake series processors should offer users a 15% increase in single-threaded performance and a 41% increase in multi-threaded performance over Alder Lake. These performance increases are based on SPECint207 data.

Intel's i9-13900K is rumoured to reach clock speeds of up to 5.8 GHz, suggesting that Intel's 6 GHz processor is a new KS series processor. Intel's KS series processors typically launch a few months after their K-series counterparts, offering users higher core clock speeds. Intel's hypothetical i9-13900KS processor could launch at CES 2023, acting as an answer to AMD's rumoured V-Cache enhanced Ryzen 7000X3D Zen 4 processors.

Intel is reportedly planning to launch their Raptor Lake series processors at an event on September 27th, the same day that AMD's Ryzen 7000 series processors will be available for sale.
