Japan's Kobe Airport eyes 2030 for international service

KOBE, Japan -- Kobe Airport in western Japan is expected to start offering international flights around 2030 as the greater Osaka region prepares for a tourism rebound from the coronavirus pandemic.

Municipalities advocating to expand operations at Kansai International Airport, the region's main hub located in southern Osaka, had opposed cross-border flights to neighboring Kobe. But expectations for recovering travel demand have helped ease opposition.
