Intel announces 13th Gen Core Desktop CPU family

The next-generation 125W SKUs are here.

Today Intel unveils 13th Gen Core series codenamed “Raptor Lake”. The new series feature three SKUs, each to be available in two variants (with and without built-in graphics). The company is adding 4 (for i5/i7) to 8 (for i9) cores to each segment compared to the 12th Gen Core series.

The Core i9-13900K features 24 cores (8P+16E) and a total of 68 MB of combined L2 and L3 cache. The maximum boost clock for this SKU is 5.8 GHz, and it will be available with integrated UHD Graphics 770 at 589 USD or without it at 564 USD.

Intel Raptor Lake 16-core (8P+8E) models: i7-13700K and i7-13700KF will retail at 409 and 384 USD respectively. The cheapest models featuring 14 cores (6P+8E) will cost 319 USD (i5-13600K) and 294 USD (i5-13600KF).

Intel is claiming up to 15% better single-threaded performance and up to 41% multi-threaded. Those improvements come mainly from increased frequency and increased number of threads. Intel’s new Z790 high-end platform has increased number of PCIe Gen4 lanes and increased USB 3.0 Gen 2×2 20 Gbps connectors.

Intel is claiming gaming leadership with its i9-13900K, which reaches parity with 12900K performance at 65W. According to Intel data, the new SKU is up to 37% faster with the same 241W TDP.

Intel also sharing gaming performance for its flagship 24-core SKU, delivering higher FPS in the ’99th percentile low-water mark’.

Intel confirms, 13th Gen Core series will be available on October 20th, which is the same day Z790 motherboards will go on sale.
