Intel's hoping to undermine AMD's latest high-end offerings

Has Intel become the new Value King? Intel Takes Aim at Zen 4 with Raptor Lake
Intel was feeling a little left our amidst AMD's Ryzen 7000 series launch madness, so they have decided to open up pre-orders for their new 13th Generation K-series processors to take a little piece of the action.
Raptor Lake is officially available to pre-purchase, before the company has even had an proper opportunity to showcase the performance of their latest CPUs, and before anyone in the media had had a chance to review them. That said, it looks like Intel is aiming for aggressive pricing this generation, at least when compared to AMD's Ryzen 7000 series.
The i5-13600K - slamming AMD with multi-core E-core madness
With a price tag that is around £40 more expensive than AMD's Ryzen 5 7600X, Intel's offering PC builders six P-cores and eight E-cores with their i5-13600K. With their eight E-cores, Intel hopes to destroy AMD in multi-threaded workloads, giving consumers better value for money.
Add on the fact that Raptor Lake CPUs will work on existing 600-series Intel motherboards and support DDR4 memory, and Intel's ready to hit AMD where it hurts. If these CPUs perform well, Intel could be the New value king, undermining AMD's Ryzen 7000 series.

With their i9-13900K, Intel is targeting pricing that is around £80 lower than AMD's Ryzen 9 7950X, and with their i7-13700K, Intel is targeting pricing that is £100 lower than AMD's Ryzen 9 7900X.
DDR4 support, and support for 600-series Intel motherboards
One of the major selling points of Intel's 13th Generation processors is that they will be supported on the company's existing 600-series motherboards, and that both 600-series and new 700-series Intel motherboards are available with support for DDR4 memory modules. These factors allow Intel buyers to lower the platform costs of Raptor Lake based systems, adding an another area where Intel can undermine the value proposition of AMD's Ryzen 7000 series.
With Raptor Lake, Intel is becoming aggressive, and that is great news for consumers. We need strong competition in the CPU market to keep prices low, a factor that is more important than ever given today's macroeconomic conditions.
