Chrome 107 isn't the most exciting feature release but does contain a handful of notable mentions. Some of the Chrome 107 highlights include:
- Aligning of all timers (some rare exceptions) with a non-zero delay to an 8ms aligned wake-up / 125Hz. By throttling DOM timers to 125Hz, Google hopes that it will motivate web developers to switch to alternative APIs that provide a better user experience and less resource intensive. This change on macOS has reportedly reduced Chrome's energy impact by around 10%.
- Enabling support for HEVC hardware decoding with supported GPUs/drivers.
- Adding an "ignoreCase" option to URLPattern for easier case insensitive URL pattern matching.
- Continuing to reduce the user-agent client hints exposed.
- Adding support for the "rel" attribute with HTML form elements.
