Meson 0.64 Build System Released With Intel oneAPI Compiler Support, Incremental ThinLTO

Debuting on Sunday was Meson 0.64 as the newest version of this open-source build system that is increasingly being used by a variety of software projects for its speed, good cross-platform support, and overall feature set compared to alternatives.

With Meson 0.64 there is initial support for Intel oneAPI compilers on both Windows and Linux. The icx/icpx compiler names are now recognized when set via the CC/CXX environment variables and there is a script for setting all the necessary Intel oneAPI variables.

Meson 0.64 also adds an "optimization plain" option for those distributions and build environments that set their optimization/hardening flags by other means, nasm/yasm and masm are now recognized languages, a new method to pre-process source files, and a new option for enabling Incremental ThinLTO link-time optimization support.
