Malaysia's Anwar named as PM, ending election stalemate

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysia's opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has been appointed as the country's 10th prime minister, the palace announced on Thursday, days after a general election ended in a deadlock.

The palace said that Anwar, 75, will be sworn in by King Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin at 5 p.m. local time the same day.
