TOKYO -- Major Japanese construction companies are winning big orders for railway projects in Southeast Asia, with overseas orders in the April-September half already reaching 90% of the full-year total for fiscal 2021.

Companies like Taisei and Shimizu snapped up orders to construct tunnels and stations for mass rapid transit (MRT) systems in cities across the region.
