AMD announces its upgraded Ryzen 7000 desktop CPUs

Today AMD unveils its plans for Ryzen 7000 CPU series featuring brand new 7000 non-X and X3D series.

AMD Ryzen 7000 series will be updated with 6 new CPUs. The company’s CEO Dr. Lisa Su confirmed today that Ryzen 7000 non-X will include Ryzen 9 7900 12-core CPU, Ryzen 7 7700 8-core CPU and Ryzen 5 7600 with 6 cores. All three are 65W SKUs, and they are targeting lower price points than existing X-series models, respectively at $429, $329 and $229.

More importantly, AMD is delivering a highly anticipated update to its X3D family, thus far only with one member (5800X3D). The Zen4 product family led by Ryzen 9 7950X3D will feature up to 16 cores and 144MB of cache. This CPU will have 5.7 GHz boost, so just the same max clock as existing Ryzen 9 7950X CPU, however the TDP has been reduced by 50W to just 120W.

The 7950X3D is not the only CPU being announced today. AMD is also confirming that Ryzen 9 7900X3D with 12 cores will also be available. This CPU will have 5.6 GHz boost and 140MB of total cache.

Last but not least, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with 8 cores will feature 104MB of cache, 5.0 GHz boost clock and TDP at 120W, so in this case it will be higher than Ryzen 7 7700X (105W). AMD is claiming 21% to 30% higher performance at 1080p with high quality preset in popular esports games:

AMD confirms that Ryzen 7000X3D will be available in February, without stating any specific dates or pricing information.
