MEXICO CITY -- Mexico needs to create an environment that will generate investment from home and abroad in areas such as renewable energy, the mayor of Mexico City told Nikkei in a recent interview.
Claudia Sheinbaum, who seeks to run for the presidency, is an influential member of the ruling National Regeneration Movement (Morena party) and supports the current administration's policy of giving preferential treatment to state-owned enterprises. But she also stressed that private-sector investment is needed.
