AMD Ryzen 9 7900X is now cheaper than 7900 non-X at Microcenter, and still comes with free 32GB memory

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X cheaper than 7900

What is happening with AMD Ryzen 7000 pricing?

A large US retailer is now offering a Ryzen 9 7900X processor for less than a slower non-X model. What may be important to note is that the latter is offered with a free 32GB DDR5-6000 memory kit worth around $150 adding even more questions to MicroCenter’s pricing strategy.

The only benefit of choosing Ryzen 7900 is the included Wraith Prism AMD stock cooler; however, this cooler would not be enough for the X-series CPUs anyway. Therefore, one might wonder how that would be a better option.

But the fact is, AMD Ryzen 7000 pricing is all over the place right now. It looks that neither retailer nor AMD really know much the upcoming Ryzen 7000X3D are going to cost. The flagship 7950X 16-core model is now pricier than it was 2 months ago. It is by no means a sharp increase in pricing, but it doesn’t seem AMD is willing to make it cheaper again.

The AM5 entry point has not really changed and remains at $229 for the cheapest 6-core Zen4 desktop processor (7600X), but the problem is still the pricing of motherboards. Currently, the cheapest B650 non-Extreme board sells for around $160 .
