Intel 24-core Xeon W7-2495X processor spotted on Geekbench, slower than Core i9-13900K

24-core Sapphire Rapids HEDT spotted

The first Intel Sapphire Rapids-WS processor makes a debut on Geekbench.

Just a week away from official introduction, the Xeon W7-2495X processor is now confirmed by benchmark entry. This is the flagship SKU from the upcoming Xeon W-2400 series featuring up to 24 and 48 threads, which is the configuration of this processor. It is worth noting that Intel is also preparing Xeon W-3400 series with up to 56 cores, but those are expected to launch later.

As per result listing, the W7-2495X has a base clock of 2.5 GHz and boost up to 4.6 GHz, but we already know it should be up to 4.8 GHz (according to leaked specs slides ). During Geekbench V5 Compute test the CPU did not clock higher, though.

What we know is that the W7-2495X was tested with Lenovo system codenamed 30G9CTO1WW, and it was equipped with 128GB of DDR5 memory. The motherboard name is not confirmed, but this should be one of the upcoming W790 series.

While most modern desktop CPUs can already go above 2000 points in a single-core Geekbench test, this CPU scored 1497 points. Furthermore, the W7-2495X has only 24685 points in multi-core test. That said, it is actually slower than Core i9-13900K which scores 2215 and 25267 points respectively.

The only good news is that 2495X ends up being faster than AMD Threadripper Pro 5965WX . This is a Zen3 processor with similar specs of 24 cores. According to these results, both have the same single-core performance, but Xeon is 12% faster in multi-core test.

Intel is set to announce its Xeon Workstation Sapphire Rapids processors on February 15th, but official reviews will not be published before February 22nd. The launch date is yet to be confirmed by Intel, but it should be in mid-March.
