Intel confirms Tiger Lake-H processors with 8-cores

In an article posted on Medium , Intel’s Corporate Vice President of Client Computing Grup – Boyd Phelps, revealed that Intel is indeed working on 8-core processors based on Willow Cove core design.

The processors known from various leaks as Tiger Lake-H are 35-45W high-end mobile processors, expected to debut next year. This is an extension of the Tiger Lake-U series which were introduced for ultra-thin laptops earlier this month.

The Willow Cove core has a higher mid-level cache of 1.25M. There is also a 3MB cache for each core slice, meaning that each core workload has 12MB of cache available. In the article, Boyd Phelps confirmed that 8-core variants will have access to up to 24MB of the cache. More details on such processors are to be expected at ‘a later date’.

Meanwhile, a recognized leaker from PTT Shopping forums – Sharkbay – confirmed the socket type and CPU configurations for Tiger Lake-H processors. The 35W and 45W variants of TGL-H are to be expected, with the 35W models featuring up to 4 cores and 96 GPU Executions Units.

The higher-end version with TDP up to 45W would feature 4, 6 and 8-core configurations. However, unlike the TGL-UP3 and TGL-H35 the 45W variant will only offer up to 32 EUs. The Tiger Lake H series will compete directly with AMD Cezanne Ryzen 5000H series.

TGL-H35 BGA144935W– / 4C / – / –96

Both processors are to launch next year, possibly alongside next-generation mobile GeForce RTX 30 (based on Ampere architecture) and AMD Radeon RX 6000M series (based on RDNA2 architecture).
