AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D spotted alongside RTX 4090 in first benchmark test

12-core AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D is now being tested

It appears that reviewers may already have AMD’s upcoming Ryzen CPUs for testing.

The 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X3D is one of the three Zen4 desktop CPUs planned with built-in 3D V-Cache. Each of those processors will feature extra memory die with 64MB of additional cache that is said to provide a noticeable boost in certain workloads, including gaming.

This processor just been found on Ashes of the Singularity benchmark database, where it had been tested with GeForce RTX 4090 GPU in Crazy 1080p preset. Such a config scored 8900, 9000 and 9100 points in each consecutive run.

Unfortunately, AotS is an extremely unreliable benchmark to compare, especially when we rely solely on data from the database itself. That said, it wouldn’t really make much sense to compare this data to any existing results (although there are a couple for 7900X and 7950X) because those are all over the place.

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D offers 12 cores and 24 threads. This processor will boost up to 5.6 GHz, so just as high as the 7900X variants. Thanks to 3D V-Cache, the full cache size will be 140MB compared to just 76MB on the X SKU. This processor will also cost $50 more than 7900X at launch.

AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 7950X3D CPUs are set to debut on February 28th, with an 8-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D model coming 2 weeks later. It is very likely that the AotS results are either from one of the reviewers or from one of board partners who should be testing their platforms as we speak. What this means is that we may see a lot more leaks in the coming days.
