AMD pushes Ryzen 7040HS series back to April

Company has confirmed no Phoenix-based laptops will be available this month, reports AnandTech .

Contrary to what was announced at CES 2023, the Zen4 and RDNA3 based laptop APU series codenamed “Phoenix” will not be available this month.  AMD came forward today to confirm that the Ryzen 7040HS series has been delayed until April.

While working with OEM partners, the company is still polishing the product, which means that ‘alignment’ with the platform readiness was required. One month delay should also provide better user experience, says a short statement.

To align with platform readiness and ensure the best possible user experience, we now expect our OEM partners to launch the first notebooks powered by Ryzen 7040HS Series processors in April.

The series is to feature three HS models and three H SKUs. There should be 6 and 8 core processors available designed with the Zen4 microarchitecture. More importantly, Phoenix will feature powerful RDNA3 graphics, up to 12 Compute Units. The most high-end iGPU, called Radeon 780M should offer performance above GTX 1650 Max-Q.

At CES 2023, the company claimed that the first laptops should start shipping in March. Interestingly, this slide only mentioned the 7040HS series, while we already know that 7040H is also planned. No details on Ryzen 7040H, apart from those listed at AMD website, were shared, though.
