AMD A620 motherboard at $86
Yesterday AMD announced its entry-level chipset for AM5 socket CPU.

The most affordable option for Ryzen 7000 CPUs is based on the PROM21 aka A620 chipset. This is a new budget-friendly platform for AM5 CPUs, finally bringing the motherboard pricing down. Last year AMD promised to offer first B650 motherboard starting from $125, but it wasn’t until very recently that such motherboards started to appear.
The good news is that the A620 chipset is indeed cheaper, with some exceptions . ASRock is among the first companies to offer AM5 motherboards below $100. The A620M-HDV/M.2 is both a mouthful and the cheapest AM5 motherboard on the market. It now retails at $86.
What this actually means is that the entry-point into AMD AM5 series has finally dropped below $430. This is by combining this board with Ryzen 5 7600 non-X 65W SKU, a perfect match for this motherboard (affiliate links below):
- AMD Ryzen 5 7600: $229.00 ( Amazon )
- ASRock A620M-HDV/M.2: $85.99 ( Newegg )
- 2x16GB G.Skill DDR5-6000: $114.99 ( Amazon )
Of course, there is nothing stopping anyone from buying even cheaper memory (DDR5-4800), but 6000 MT/s is probably what most users would want. This would bring pricing down close to $400. Technically, there is also nothing preventing gamers on a slightly higher budget from choosing the upcoming Ryzen 7 7800X instead. But this CPU will cost just as much as this whole build.
