ASUS ROG Ally appears with Ryzen 7840U APU
The specs of the ROG Ally console might have already been leaked.

ASUS’ upcoming gaming console has already appeared at certification offices. This is where the product is listed with a model name that has not been made public before. With a knowledge of the product code, it is relatively easy to find trace of this console being shipped between ASUS headquarters.
The shipping manifest shows that the console will feature a Ryzen 7 7840U APU with Radeon 780M. This would be the same APU that goes into the GPD Win Max or AOKZEO A1 Pro . However, it is a fact that ASUS mentioned ‘custom’ APU, suggesting that the processor might have been altered in some way.

Another interesting fact is that ASUS already confirmed those product codes. It is effortless to find these product codes on the ASUS as well as the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) websites. The console is listed with two product codes, namely the RC71L (listed above) and RC71X .
The difference between L and X variants is currently unclear, but it is quite common for Windows handheld makers to have many models with different memory or storage options. Color variations or special edition models shouldn’t be ignored either.

Although the shipping manifest clearly states the console is using Ryzen 7 7840U, it is possible that pre-release hardware could be running an early silicon without customizations. It is worth reminding that ASUS used to be the first company to feature Ryzen HS variants with lower TDP. The same changes could apply to the custom Ally chip.
The fact that ROG Ally is equipped with AMD Phoenix APU should not be a surprise to anyone, as the hardware was already shown by one of the influencers. However, the exact APU name was not known before.

ASUS ROG Ally console should launch ‘soon’ claims the company. It is expected to make a formal debut this quarter.
