AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 7840HS Zen4 Phoenix APU for HP ZBook FireFly 14 G10 workstation leaks out

Unreleased Ryzen 7 PRO for mobile workstation spotted

The upcoming launch of professional Ryzen CPUs will not be limited to Ryzen 9 series.

AMD Phoenix APU launch based on Zen4 and RDNA3 architecture is now expected by the end of this month. Besides confirming that the Zen4 mobile chip is delayed, AMD did not mention the exact launch date. Nor did AMD confirm the existence of Ryzen PRO 7000 series.

It now appears that there are at least two processors from these series, including PRO 7940HS and PRO 7840HS. Those are high-end 8-core processors for mobile workstations, that may optionally be paired with discrete GPU.

HP already launched its ZBook FireFly 14 G10 systems equipped with Intel Rocket Lake-P and HX CPUs. Those systems can be found with NVIDIA RTX A500 workstation GPU. The AMD systems specs are pending full disclosure, but one can see that there is a logo of AMD Radeon PRO graphics on the official page, which may confirm that even more powerful systems are coming.

What the new leak confirms is that this system will feature a Ryzen 7 PRO 7840HS CPU with 8 cores and 16 threads. This is a first leak featuring clock speeds for the PRO variant of AMD Phoenix. According to the data, the processors would feature a base clock of 3.8 GHz and boost up to 5.0 GHz, but it should just as easily boost to 5.1 GHz, which is the specs of the non-PRO variant.

With a score of 1846 points in single-core Geekbench test and 10421 points in multi-core, it is very hard to find any Intel system that could match this level of performance. But one should note that the database lacks entries with Raptor Lake-HX systems which are also coming as long as official HP specs are considered.
