XBOX Series S with 1TB storage announced
A third variant of the newest XBOX console has been announced today.
Microsoft will be doubling the capacity on the updated Series S console. The new version will also come in “carbon black” color scheme and will include a black game pad. By launching this product, Microsoft will offer it’s cheaper console with the same 1TB capacity as the high-end the Series X model. According to the company, the new Series S 1TB will cost just $50 more than the original Series S with 512GB storage.
The company is tackling one of the biggest problems with the Series X|S consoles, which is limited and overpriced storage. Compared to PlayStation 5 PCIe Gen4 SSD support, Microsoft’s proprietary SSD module costs significantly more, and it is only available through two brands (Seagate and WD). Furthermore, newer titles do not work when they are installed on a cheap HDD/SATA SSD through USB port, so time consuming data moving is required.

The 1TB option for Series S will not solve this problem, but it should an obvious choice for most gamers, unless they only play a few games. The Series S with 1TB storage will launch on September 1st at $349.
