Intel launches new quad-core CPU
The Core i3-10100F is a new variant of the 10100 series. Intel already announced Core i3-10100, i3-10100T, i3-10100E, and i3-10100TE, each designed for a slightly different purpose.
The Core i3-10100F is basically the i3-10100 without the integrated graphics, hence, the price has dropped to 79-97 USD (Intel does not provide the exact price – it may depend on a number of orders), making it a much cheaper option than 10100 (retailing at 122 USD).
At sub-100 USD price this model will be competitive against AMD Ryzen 3 3300X which is essentially offering the exact same configuration: 4 cores, 8 threads, and it boosts up to 4.3 GHz. The Ryzen CPU has 10MB more L3 cache (16MB) than 10100F and 200 MHz higher base clock, though the retail price is 20 USD higher (120 USD).
The problem with Ryzen 3300X is that it’s nowhere to be found. It was quickly sold out right after launch and it remains available for roughly 5 months now. That said, Intel may have an upper hand simply by making their CPU available for sale. Of course, there are other options available. The used market has very good offers on CPUs such as Ryzen 5 1600, which offers more cores (6) and also lacks integrated graphics.
