PNY launches GeForce RTX 4070 with blower fan in China

PNY RTX 4070 with blower fan

It’s exclusive to China at the moment.

This is the first official blower design from PNY. The company has just listed this model on Chinese retail platform with price going as high as 6999 RMB. For comparison, that’s significantly pricier than RTX 4070 Founders Edition at launch in China (which had place two weeks ago) at 4799 RMB.

Just a few days ago we covered AFOX RTX 4090 blower design , which was actually the company’s first RTX 40 model, so quite an odd choice for a debut with a gaming product. PNY is in a much different situation, as the company made enough standard looking GPUs with triple and dual-fan options. In fact, PNY knows that this RTX 4070 Blower model doesn’t have much to offer for gamers. The card is designed to work in a cluster, which makes has no practical use for gamers. NVIDIA has made sure that SLI features are completely ineffective for gaming, not to mention the lack of any physical connector on modern RTX 40 series.

Nevertheless, the RTX 4070 Blower should be an appealing alternative to the expensive workstation RTX ADA series. Those can offer more or less the same features, with an exception to higher memory capacity and professional software optimized driers. The 12GB GDDR6X buffer on RTX 4070 may not be as impressive as RTX 4090’s 24GB, but there are many workloads that can populate the full memory buffer through multiple GPUs.

PNY is well aware of such enthusiasts and small-scale researchers who would rather save money, which is where RTX 4070 Blower comes in. The card has been tested in a cluster of three, and it should offer lower temperatures than typical designs with axial fans.

The company is not sharing anything on the noise level though, which is typically the biggest issue with blower-fan designs. However, RTX 4070’s TDP is only 200W, which should be well within the capabilities of modern blower-type coolers.
