AMD Radeon RX 6800XT board partner card allegedly features a 2577 MHz boost clock

AMD Navi 21 with boost clock up to 2577 MHz?

According to Igor Wallossek from Igor’sLAB , a ‘very special board partner’ graphics card based on Navi 21 GPU will feature a boost clock of 2577 MHz. Now, before we all get too excited, Igor did not mention which SKU this is (XTX, XT or XL). He did say that this is a boost clock, meaning this is not the ‘actual’ clock speed of the graphics card. This Radeon RX 6000 model will likely stay at 2.3-2.4 clocks, where AMD’s ‘gaming clock’ is more representative of what may be seen during gameplay.

The data came from a BIOS that Igor got access to. He used ‘MorePowerTool’ to read the data from the firmware, which appears to use the same structure of SoftPowerPlayTables as the previous Navi generation.

That said, the tool reveals that the maximum allowed GFX clock speed is 2800 MHz, an extremely high clock for a high-end graphics card. This frequency is not to be expected from manual overclocking. It may be possible to achieve with liquid nitrogen though.

AMD is set to announce its Radeon RX 6900XT, RX 6800XT, and RX 6800 graphics card on October 28th. All three cards are based on the same Navi 21 silicon paired with 16GB of GDDR6 memory. These cards will feature 80, 72 and 64 Compute Units respectively. The 6900XT model will not immediately be available to board partners, thus the leak from Igor likely covers the Navi 21 XT custom card, aka Radeon RX 6800XT.
