AMD Ryzen 9 5950X tops PassMark’s single-threaded chart

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X claims the top spot in PassMark charts

Just three days after the Ryzen 5 5600X has claimed the top score in PassMark single-threaded performance chart, the flagship Zen3 CPU codenamed Ryzen 9 5950X has extended the gap between Ryzen 5000 series and Intel 10th Gen Core i9 series in this benchmark even further.

The Ryzen 9 5950X is a 16-core and 32-thread CPU officially introduced as the best gaming CPU in the upcoming lineup. With a score of 641 points in the Cinebench R20 single-threaded benchmark, the CPU is expected to perform very well in gaming, the only remaining workload scenario where Intel still had something to say.

By scoring 3693 points, the 5950X is around 7% better than Ryzen 5 5600X and 16% better than Core i9-10900K. It is important to note that the scores will change as PassMark registers more entries from other users. This is likely based on a single test run or multiple tests from one party.

In PassMark High-end CPU charts, where multi-threaded performance is considered, AMD Ryzen 9 5950X is no longer the best CPU. The Ryzen Threadripper series are still offering up to twice the performance of the 5950X but at a significantly higher price:

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X scores 1700 points in Geekbench 5

The processor has also been spotted on the Geekbench website with a new, even higher single-threaded score. The 5950X appears to have an average score of 1641 points in the single-threaded benchmark and 14946 points in the multi-threaded benchmark. The new benchmark result puts the single-threaded score at 1700 points and multi-threaded at 14018. While the latter is below average, the single-thread value is the best reported so far.

The details which are hidden in the GB5 file reveal that the processor has been running steadily with a clock speed above 5.0 GHz. It is unclear if the processor has been overclocked or it is using built-in boost features available to the Zen3 processor architecture, but the overview page reported a turbo clock of 5.04 GHz:

AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 1700 ST score at Geekbench

AMD will officially release its Ryzen 5000 series on November 5th. The Ryzen 9 5950X will cost 799 USD, which is 100 USD more than the Zen2-based Ryzen 9 3950X.
