AMD announces Radeon RX 6900XT, RX 6800XT and RX 6800 graphics cards

Today AMD introduces its ‘Big Navi’ series.

AMD announces Radeon RX 6000 series

AMD has introduced three graphics cards based on RDNA2 architecture with prices ranging from 579 to 999 USD. AMD will be competing with NVIDIA in the high-end market, directly targeting each of the RTX 30 series SKUs.

AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT: 999 USD

AMD RX 6900XT is a flagship RDNA2 graphics card from RX 6000 series. This model will compete directly with GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card. This SKU will feature 80 Compute Units (5120 Stream Processors) and 16GB GDDR6 memory and 128 MB of Infinity Cache. AMD claims that the total board power of this SKU is just 300W, which is 50W lower than RTX 3090. The RX 6900XT has the same game and boost clocks as RX 6800XT: 2015/2250 MHz.

In detailed specifications on the AMD website, we learn that this model has 80 Ray Accelerators and 320 TMUs and 128 ROPs. AMD announced that Radeon RX 6900XT will be available on December 8. The card will cost 999 USD.

Please note that Radeon RX 6900XT had Rage Mode enabled. This is a new feature coming with RDNA2 architecture providing automatic overclocking.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT: 649 USD

AMD today also introduced Radeon RX 6800 XT graphics card with 72 Compute Units (4608 Stream Processors). The graphics card features the 2015 MHz game clock and 2250 MHz boost clock. The card is equipped with 16GB GDDR6 memory and a 256-bit memory bus. The RX 6000 series features 128MB of Infinity Cache. The Radeon RX 6800 XT has the power of a total graphic of 300W. The Radeon RX 6800XT features 72 Ray Accelerators and 128 ROPs. The Texture Unit count drops to 288 units.

AMD confirmed that this SKU will compete directly with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, while being cheaper by 50 USD. The RX 6800 XT will retail at 649 USD and it will be available starting from November 18.

AMD has compared Radeon RX 6800 XT with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card. Not only the Radeon 6800XT is faster in most 1440p gaming benchmarks, according to AMD, but also consumes less power (300W vs 320W).

AMD Radeon RX 6800: 579 USD

The cheapest Navi 21 graphics card comes with 60 Compute Units (3840 Stream Processors). This model will feature 60 Ray Accelerators, 96 ROPs, and 240 TMUs. The RX 6800 comes with 16GB of GDDR6 memory and 128MB of Infinity Cache. AMD Radeon RX 6800 non-XT also has lower frequencies at 1815 MHz (game clock) and 2105 MHz (boost clock).

AMD is comparing this model to GeForce RTX 2080 Ti which has a similar TBP of 250W. According to AMD, this model will be faster in most games at 4K/60 FPS gaming.

AMD announced that Radeon RX 6800 will launch on November 18th for a price of 579 USD.
