U.S. CFTC commissioner calls for digital innovation 'sandbox'

TOKYO -- U.S. regulators should use pilot programs to test regulatory approaches for digital assets like cryptocurrencies, a commissioner of the Commodities Futures Trading Commission has told Nikkei Asia.

"I would like to see how we can create... a U.S. regulatory sandbox to [launch] pilot programs under our rules," CFTC Commissioner Caroline Pham said in an interview.
