TOKYO -- The Russian government said Monday that it is restricting imports of Japanese seafood in response to the release of treated wastewater from the damaged Fukushima nuclear plant.

The "precautionary measure" will last until authorities can confirm the safety of the seafood, Russia's Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance said.
