TOKYO -- The Fugaku supercomputer developed by Japan's Riken research institute and Fujitsu fell from second place to fourth in a global speed ranking released Monday.

The latest TOP500 list, compiled semiannually by international experts, put the U.S.'s Frontier system in the lead for a fourth straight time. American systems ranked second and third as well in a field gaining more attention as a badge of countries' technological prowess.
