LONDON -- Luxury brand Burberry on Thursday reported its sales grew only 1% on the year in the second quarter, as sales in China fell and the environment remained challenging in the Americas.
Sales growth in the quarter ended Sept. 30 slowed to 1% versus a year earlier, before China's COVID reopening. This compares with an 18% rise in sales in the previous quarter, with that figure boosted by a stellar 46% jump in revenue from mainland China. Burberry's London-listed shares tumbled around 10% on the latest results, shortly after the market opened.
