Kishida and Xi meet in San Francisco to revive strategic relationship

SAN FRANCISCO -- Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Chinese leader Xi Jinping met for the first time in a year in San Francisco on Thursday, hoping to put the relationship back on track after multiple setbacks.

"As neighbors and as major countries leading the region and the international community, Japan and China have a responsibility to coexist and prosper, contributing to world peace and prosperity," Kishida said in his opening remarks.
