2TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD appears at UK retailer
Samsung is preparing to release a larger version of their ultra-fast 980 Pro SSD, offering users 2TB capacities while maintaining top-tier sequential read/write speeds over the PCIe 4.0 interface.
In September, we reviewed Samsung's 980 Pro 1TB SSD , and it is blitzing fast. This SSD pummels older 5GBps PCIe 4.0 SSDs and comes relatively close to saturating the PCIe 4.0 standard, giving PC users more than enough performance to handle seemingly any workloads. With its 2TB model, Samsung will allow its customers to store more data on their PC's limited PCIe 4.0 slots.
With PCIe lanes and M.2 slots being limited in number on today's motherboards, it makes a lot of sense for Samsung to release a new 2TB model for their 980 Pro. A lot of Samsung's potential users may not have the option to install multiple M.2 SSDs, especially those who wish to add this SSD to notebooks or small form factor PCs. Having more data storage on a single M.2 card can be vitally important to PC builders.

At Scan UK, Samsung's 980 Pro is currently listed for £443.99 in the UK, with the SSD having a due date of January 14th. This price tag is slightly higher than the cost of two 1TB 980 Pro SSD, which currently costs £221.99 .
