Sabrent has quickly become one of the most forceful competitors within the SSD market, catering the areas of the marker that their competitors don't touch. Earlier this year, we reviewed Sabrent's 8TB Rocket Q NVMe SSD, and now we know that Sabrent has something even bigger in the works.

According to Tech Radar , Sabrent plans to launch a 16TB SSD sometime in the near future, offering insane levels of storage capacity within the 2.5-inch form factor. The only downside of this drive is that it will use the SATA interface, limiting the SSD's potential read/write speeds. That said, 16TB of NAND is impractical for standard M.2 SSD form factors, making SATA the only viable option for consumer-grade 16TB SSDs.

Sabrent's 16TB SSD likely be based on Phison's E12S SD controller and Micron 96-layer QLC NAND packages. Read/write speeds will be limited by the SATA interface, giving the driver 550MBps sequential read speeds and 530MBps sequential write speeds. The drive should also offer 95,000/90,000 IOPS of random Read/Write performance.

With their new Rocket 4 Plus drives, Sabrent revealed what appeared to be the fastest PCIe 4.0 SSD on the market. Soon, Sabrent will be releasing one of the PC market's largest consumer SSDs. At this time, the pricing of Sabrent's planned 16TB SSD is unknown.
