HONG KONG -- A top Chinese oil executive on Thursday expressed rare open criticism of U.S. sanctions against Russia, which affect his company's stake in a Siberian liquefied natural gas project.

"We are resolutely opposed to the U.S. sanctions," CNOOC President and CEO Zhou Xinhuai said in a news conference.
