Toray to boost Saudi, U.S. output of water treatment membranes

TOKYO -- Japanese chemical group Toray will increase annual production capacity 30% for water treatment membranes in Saudi Arabia and the U.S. over the next three years, Nikkei has learned, as water shortages stemming from climate change increase demand.

Production will be increased for reverse osmosis (RO) membranes, which account for 70% of sales revenue in Toray's water treatment membrane business.
