Slimbook unveils a gaming laptop powered by RTX 4060 graphics
The Steam Deck is becoming more popular and Valve is improving the Proton compatibility layer every day. This has certainly sparked hope that gaming on Linux will at some point become just as popular as Windows. Valve’s dedicated efforts to make a wide array of Windows games compatible with Proton have resulted in over 4400 games being confirmed as fully compatible through the Deck Verified program already.
Based on this success, Spanish company Slimbook aims to stay ahead of the competition by offering a dedicated Linux system based on Manjaro, specifically tailored for gamers. The system comes bundled and optimized for gaming, supporting platforms like Steam, Heroic Games Launcher, ProtonUp-QT, OBS, and Lutris.

Driving this system is the Intel Core i7-13620H processor, a mid-range SKU featuring 6 P-Cores and 4 E-Cores. Paired with the GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU with a default TGP of 140W (maximum) and Dynamic Boost support for an additional 25W. Users can also opt for up to 64GB DDR5-5200 memory specs and equip the system with two NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4x4 SSDs. The 15.6-inch QHD display boasts a refresh rate of 165Hz.
Worth adding that this system is not the first Slimbook gaming laptop with Linux. The company already offers other gaming laptops like the “Hero,” allowing users to choose their operating system, the new model exclusively features the Manjaro Gaming Edition Linux distribution. The Slimbook Manjaro is priced at €1,399 which comes with 16GB DRAM and a small 250GB SSD.
