Intel Core i9-14900KS set for March debut
The last flagship SKU for the LGA1700 platform.

We’re circling back to the topic of the Core i9-14900KS processor, the 24-core variant designed for the LGA1700 desktop platform, possibly the last flagship SKU for this socket. According to the latest update from Benchlife, who quote their ‘reliable sources,’ this SKU is expected to hit the market in mid-March.
The Intel Core i9-12900KS was launched on April 5, 2022, while the Intel Core i9-13900KS hit the market on January 12, 2023. According to reliable sources, it has been mentioned that Intel is planning to release the Intel Core i9-14900KS, a limited edition processor with a clock speed of up to 6.20GHz, in mid-March 2024. However, it is still unclear whether it will be targeted towards specific system vendors or sold through specific channels.

Just to refresh your memory, the Core i9-14900KS stands out as a higher-spec’ed version of the already available Core i9-14900K. It boasts a higher TDP of 150W, a 25W increase, and a boosted clock reaching up to 6.2 GHz for up to two cores, an uplift of 200 MHz. This SKU isn’t aiming for mass popularity or affordability; instead, it’s targeting the enthusiast class segment and overclockers who demand nothing but the finest binned CPUs.
Intel KS SKUs for LGA1700 platform:
- Core i9-12900KS : 16-cores, up to 5.5 GHz (launched in April 2022)
- Core i9-13900KS: 24-cores up to 6.0 GHz (launched in January 2023)
- Core i9-14900KS : 24-cores, up to 6.2 GHz (expected mid-March 2024)
As of now, it remains uncertain whether Intel intends to continue releasing future KS versions. The upcoming witch to a new LGA1851 socket will involve a brand new Arrow Lake architecture, which is expected to feature a new naming scheme, possibly resembling something like Core 9 Ultra 290K.
The Core i9-14900KS has recently been spotted on the OCCT benchmark site , revealing that the CPU can indeed boost up to 409 watts under full load.
