MSI 31.5-inch OLED monitor to be $350 cheaper than ASUS’
Monitors makers engage in a price war.
MSI is expected to launch its MPG 321URX QD-OLED monitor this month. Initially, the company communicated that it will retail at $1199, but MSI has now decided to lower the price to $949. This price was also planned but only as the introductory price for a limited time, MSI is now making this price permanent.
Here the context is important, became ASUS and MSI are clearly in a war for the best (priced) 32-inch QD-OLED monitor. ASUS was first to launch its PG32UCDM monitor and confirmed it will retail at $1299. Now, with the cat out of the bag, MSI is confirming that their monitor will cost $350 less.

It’s worth noting that MSI has kind of pushed ASUS into expanding the warranty for OLED burn-in to three years. Initially, ASUS announced a two-year extended warranty to address the OLED issue, but after MSI’s announcement of a three-year warranty, ASUS followed suit and extended their warranty period to three years as well.

The competition among 31-32 inch OLED gaming monitor makers is getting more and more interesting. Many of the announced products have only been seen at CES earlier this year, some area already available for sale. Companies are focusing on featuring KVM switches, dual-mode for 4K 240Hz and 1080p 480 Hz modes or simply by featuring DisplayPort 2.1 support, which is a long-overdue update, especially for $1K monitors.
What all 4K OLD monitors have in common is this very high price, which is still unreachable for many gamers. Despite being targeted as the resolution of the future by GPU makers a few years ago, it is now becoming an expensive niche. To draw 240 frames on a 4K monitor, one needs a powerful GPU or support from upscaling tech. The good news is that most of these monitors support variable refresh rate, so gaming at lower framerate should not be an issue.
