Bethesda and Husqvarna announce Doom is coming to NERA lawnmowers

Taking a break from mowing to play Doom, even if you are a robotic lawnmower. Bethesda has collaborated with Husqvarna and talented modders to bring Doom to a new product, a lawnmower featuring an ARM processor with 320KB of RAM and 16MB of flash memory. As shown by other modders, anything that has a screen thse days can technically play doom, whether that’s a pregnancy test or a calculator.

The iconic 1993 game is now coming to a lawn mower that offers a 320×240 pixel screen. Navigating through the demonic hordes is no walk in the park, though, as the controls on the robotic lawnmowers take some getting used to. The start button propels the Doom Slayer forward, while the rotary push button aids in shooting, turning, and opening doors. However, one should note that the lawnmower has no speaker so audio is sadly not available in this edition of Doom.

“One hell of an update” makes DOOM playable on Husqvarna Automower®

Prepare your robotic Lawn mower for an adrenaline-fueled experience filled with dark corridors and hell-spawned demons. The legendary 1993 video game DOOM® will be playable on Husqvarna Automower® NERA robotic lawnmower models from April this year. In what we call “one hell of an update”, the software update will be released for download via the Husqvarna Automower® Connect App. The decision to release the game to product owners follows the amazing response DOOM x Husqvarna robotic lawnmowers had at the gaming event DreamHack Winter 2023.

The game will be playable on a NERA series of lawnmowers and will only be available for some time (through April until September). The game will later be removed from the lawnmower, but one keeps the device offline, then the game will continue to be available.
