ASUS launches TUF and DUAL AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics cards

ASUS is releasing two more Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics cards

The TUF Gaming and DUAL GPUs.

Yesterday, AMD made an announcement regarding the global availability of the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, a graphics card initially marketed for the Chinese DIY market. The decision to extend its release worldwide comes six months after the first release. This launch is also accompanied by a reduced price tag of $549, marking a $100 drop from its original July 2023 pricing.

Named the “Golden Rabbit Edition” in honor of the Chinese New Year of the rabbit, some may argue that the 2024 release should be dubbed the “Golden Dragon Edition.” Despite the change in the year, the specs remain unchanged, though. However, there’s a change in the market, with board partners now offering an increased number of cards. There are now 14 models, including two new releases from ASUS.

ASUS already released their Radeon RX 7900 GRE as TUF Gaming model, but it was previously exclusively available in a white color scheme. Now it will also be available in a gray variant. The TUF model seems to share the same cooler and PCB design as the Navi 32-based Radeon RX 7800 XT. It’s an open secret that the smaller package for Navi 31 XL, identical in size to Navi 32, enables board partners to adapt existing designs for the GRE model easily.

Additionally, ASUS is launching releasing a DUAL OC card striking the dual-fan cooler design. This card is a 2.47-slot thick, which makes both shorter (28 cm vs. 32 cm) and slimmer, as the TUF Gaming model is 2.96-slot design.

According to ASUS, both cards will ship with OC Mode, which is typically enabled through the ASUS GPU Tweak software. Out of the box (default) clocks show 2333 MHz boost for the TUF OC model and 2293 MHz for DUAL OC. By applying the OC settings through the software, one should expect 2391 MHz and 2366 MHz respectively.

ASUS has not released its RX 7900 GRE cards yet, it was also visibly absent in the review roundup yesterday.
