Retailer confirms Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU has 6.2 GHz max clock and 150W TDP

Intel Core i9-14900KS with 6.2 GHz clock

The soon-to-be-released flagship Intel CPU now has confirmed specs by a retailer. This desktop processor would be Intel’s first to offer 6.2 GHz max clock for two cores out of the box.

According to the data discovered by @momomo_us , the upcoming Core i9-14900KS would feature 24 cores, 32 threads, 6.2 GHz max boost clock and 150W TDP. None of these specs are new to our readers, as these specs were mentioned for the possible KS “Special Edition” variant for months. Intel has been releasing these SKUs ever since the LGA-1700 socket was released as the top-of-the-line desktop processors for enthusiasts and overclockers.

These CPUs are pre-binned by Intel, which ensures that they work at advertised speeds without issues. The third KS processor in the series wouldn’t be a major update over i9-13900KS, though. When Intel moved from 12900KS to 13900KS, not only did users get 8 more P-Cores, but the clock speed was also increased by 500 MHz. In the case of i9-13900KS/14900KS upgrade, one is only getting 200 MHz higher clock and an identical core count.

Intel KS SKUs for LGA1700 platform:

  • Core i9-12900KS : 16-cores, up to 5.5 GHz (launched in April 2022)
  • Core i9-13900KS: 24-cores up to 6.0 GHz (launched in January 2023)
  • Core i9-14900KS : 24-cores, up to 6.2 GHz (March 2024?)

The full specs were confirmed by a Canadian retailer this week, who also confirmed that this SKU will continue to use 150W TDP (Processor Base Power):

According to retailers, the CPU should launch next month, possibly within the next two weeks. The new part will not only be the fastest, but also the most expensive SKU in the series. Enthusiasts living in Europe should prepare at least €140 more for the KS version, as shown by earlier leak.  In the case of Canada, retailers’ early pricing suggest one is looking at $970 to 1,004 CAD price, which is around 10% to 13% more expensive than i9-14900K.
