AYANEO updates AM01 PC to newer Ryzen CPU
The Macintosh-inspired PC gets a Zen3 CPU.
Back in November , AYANEO announced a new Mini-PC series inspired by some iconic retro hardware. The AM01 is a Mini-PC attempting to mimic the look of the first Apple Macintosh system, except with much newer hardware.
The AM01 was already available with Ryzen 3 3200U (Zen1) and Ryzen 5 5700U (Zen2) processors, neither was new at the time of the release. Users demanding more performance had to seek other options.
Turns out, the system will be available with 8-core Ryzen 7 5800U, which is based on the newer Zen3 architecture. Like most U-series CPUs, it is designed to operate within a 10-25W power envelope, but the company confirms that it will operate at 35W TDP, so it has been tweaked for even more performance.

Besides the Zen3 update, the 5700U has the same number of cores (8 cores) and a slightly faster clock speed of 4.4 GHz. On board there is Vega 8 Graphics clocked at 2.0 GHz (100 MHz faster than 5700U).
The company has announced the new update, along with new pricing. Users can buy a barebone version at 1499RMB, which is more or less the same price as 5700U at launch ($219). However, like in most cases with AYANEO systems, this is the early bird price and the actual retail price is expected to be higher (1699 RMB).
