NVIDIA mixing GPUs again
NVIDIA will be releasing new variants of its GeForce RTX 40 GPUs.
Typically, about a year after the launch of a new series, NVIDIA usually starts introducing more SKUs based on non-standard GPUs. This means the company has GPUs with disabled cores that would otherwise go to waste. So instead of throwing them away, NVIDIA is lowering the specs to match lower-end class models. This means that cards like RTX 4070 may end up with much larger AD103 GPU instead of AD104.
According to reliable hardware leaker MEGAsizeGPU, NVIDIA might release new RTX 4070, RTX 4060 Ti, and RTX 4060 models featuring such non-standard GPUs. The company is reportedly preparing new Ada GPU variants for its GeForce RTX 4070, RTX 4060 Ti & RTX 4060 graphics cards:
- GeForce RTX 4070: AD104-251 → AD103-175-KX 🆕
- GeForce RTX 4060 Ti: AD106-351 → AD104-150-KX 🆕
- GeForce RTX 4060: AD107-400 → AD106-255 🆕

What is interesting is that these GPUs are already mentioned in the latest official drivers, so their launch could happen at any time. However, according to MEGAsizeGPU, at least two of these models should not be expected sooner than April. That said, one should expect a quiet launch.
If you come across these models, don’t be surprised if they have a different GPU than what NVIDIA officially announced. However, remember that these non-standard SKUs are usually only available in specific regions.
