AMD Strix Point reaffirmed for 2024
The Zen5 mobile series launching this year.

At the AI PC Innovation Summit in Being, AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su unveiled the Ryzen 8040 “Hawk Point” and Ryzen 8000G desktop APU series for the Chinese market. She also reaffirmed AMD’s commitment to releasing the next-gen Ryzen, codenamed Strix Point, within this year.
While the announcement doesn’t really bring new revelations, it underscores AMD’s commitment to its previous roadmap, promising a new mobile series launch this year. The Strix Point, likely dubbed Ryzen 9050, is expected to be among the first products featuirng Zen5 microarchitecture.

Lisa Su notably highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning acceleration, something that is already achieved by the AMD XDNA unit in the Hawk Point series. The forthcoming Strix Point is expected to offer even higher performance in this regard.
David Wang, AMD’s Senior Vice President of GPU Technology and Engineering R&D, also took the stage to discuss RDNA3+ and XDNA2 architectures. While these architectures have been previously mentioned, AMD reiterated the claim that XDNA2 will deliver triple the performance of existing APU series.
Although AMD didn’t specify the exact release date for Strix Point, the December release of Hawk Point suggests the possibility of AMD adhering to a one-year product launch cycle.
