Biden and Xi have first phone call since July 2022

WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Joe Biden spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping by phone on Tuesday, marking the first call between the two since July 2022.

Ahead of the leaders' chat, a senior White House official had told reporters that it would be a "check-in" on progress made since they last met face to face in November. At that summit in Woodside, California, Biden and Xi agreed to cooperate on counternarcotics, military-to-military dialogue and artificial intelligence.
