GPD Win Max 2 2023 with Ryzen 7 8840U and 32GB LPDDRX memory now available for 885 USD

GPD Win Max 2 now available

GPD announces availability of Win Max 2 2023. Unlike the other products, featuring 6 and 7-inch screen size, the Max 2 is actually much larger, featuring 10.1-inch screen. Thanks to the narrow bezel and clamshell design, GPD was able to squeeze everything in 22.7 x 16.0 x 0.23 cm chassis. The only drawback of this design is its weight of 1kg.

The screen has touch input and supports an active stylus with 4096-level pressure sensitivity (MPP2.0). The stylus is sold as an accessory separately. The Win Max 2 features the all-metal CNC body made from 6061 aluminum-magnesium alloy. The back is made using the aviation-grade ABS synthetic resin on the back enhances grip comfort during extended gaming sessions.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the latest AMD Ryzen processors, offering options like the Ryzen 7 8840U APU with AMD Radeon 780M RDNA3 Graphics and up to 64GB LPDDR5x memory, ensuring smooth performance even with demanding gaming titles. Alternatively, there is a Ryzen 5 8640U version   with 6 cores and Radeon 760M graphics. Worth noting that this is the bigger Hawk Point APU without Zen4c cores, which also comes with heavily reduced Radeon 740M graphics.

Users can opt for a 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models featuring LPDDR5X-7500 memory. The 16GB option is actually offered with the Phoenix model featuring Ryzen 5 7640U. Hawk Point APUs come with a minimum of 32GB capacity.

Overall, GPD has now multiple AMD-based systems, featuring Phoenix and Hawk Point APUs. Some systems are direct replacements for Phoenix, while some handhelds are offered with older APUs at a lower price.

The Win Max 2 has a long list of features, including a built-in magnetic controller cover that allows seamless transition between gaming handheld and business laptop modes. There is also an optional 4G LTE support and Wi-Fi 6 compatibility. For storage there is a dual M.2 slot supporting up to 2TB of storage. What’s important to note is that this is 2280 form factors.

Audio enthusiasts will appreciate the built-in 4-channel smart amplifier and four super-linear speakers. Furthermore, the handheld has 67Wh battery for extended gaming sessions, while the 100W PD charger allows for rapid charging, reaching 50% in just 20 minutes.

When it comes to pricing , the system is now sold through retail channel in China, as well as on international platform through crowdfunding sites:
