MSI launches GeForce RTX 4090D Ventus 3X for China

MSI launches another RTX 4090D for China

The Ventus 3X model released with the (D)ragon teeth.

Earlier this month, there was a report that NVIDIA might face another challenge when it comes to exporting high-end GPUs like the AD102 to China. The RTX 4090D graphics card was already designed to circumvent the restrictions on the RTX 4090, which was banned from being shipped to this country. Fortunately, those claims turned out to be false, and NVIDIA confirmed that there are no issues with shipping the RTX 4090D to China.

Following this report is an update from MSI, who announced a new RTX 4090D model. The card is part of the Ventus 3X series and features a triple-slot and triple-fan design. The card measures 32.2×13.6 cm and weighs 1.6 kg.

In terms of performance, like all RTX 4090D models, it ships with NVIDIA reference specs of 2520 MHz boost out of the box. However, MSI advertises a software overclock of 2535 MHz through the MSI Center software. This clock requires you to download the tool and enable OC settings manually, though.

It’s worth noting that the RTX 4090D Ventus is based on the RTX 4090 Ventus 3X E, a slimmer version of the original design. In fact, MSI is using the same photos for both models. MSI is no longer producing the original model, which was slightly thicker, while the “E” variant is purely 3-slot.

MSI RTX 4090D lineup now consists of 3 models. This is not even half of what the company had for RTX 4090 series (8 models):
