WASHINGTON -- President Joe Biden will instruct U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai to consider tripling tariffs on Chinese steel and aluminum, warning that an influx of artificially cheap Chinese products could hurt American workers if left unchecked.

Biden is to make the announcement Wednesday, speaking at the headquarters of United Steelworkers in Pittsburgh, officials said.
